Does Stimerex-ES Work?

Until it was banned in 2004, ephedrine was the hottest thing in weight loss supplements. It was banned from supplements by the FDA because of its potential to cause side effects like a dangerous increase in blood pressure. It also had the potential to cause anxiety and a racing heart beat. Because of its effectiveness, people wanting to lose weight have been searching for a replacement ever since it was taken off the shelves.

 

If you’ve done much looking around, you may have seen Stimerex-ES, and wondered if it’s a viable alternative. Its website and marketing materials boast that it contains 25mg of Ephedra. But wait, we thought that was banned!? And if so, why does Stimerex-ES claim to contain it? We took a closer look, and we’ll let you know the truth about Stimerex-ES and reveal the answer to the big question: Does it Work?

 

 

Stimerex-ES Ingredients

 

Stimerex-ES lists its ingredients very clearly, but they may not be all they’re cracked up to be:

 

The primary highlighted ingredient is 25 mg of Ephedra Extract (Leaves). It’s important to note that there’s a big difference between Ephedra Extract and the Ephedrine that was banned in 2004. The ephedrine that you might remember is actually ephedrine alkaloids, from the Ephedra Sinica species. The Ephedra Extract in Stimerex-ES comes from the Viridis species and contains no ephedrine alkaloids. (1) They’re likely to be safe, but on the other hand, they’re highly unlikely to provide any fat burning benefits at all.

 

So the main promoted ingredient is a bust, but what about the rest of the formula which includes:

 

• Phenylethylamine Alkaloids from Acacia Rigidula Extract. These are said to improve mood by acting on the release of dopamine. Elevated moods lead to appetite suppression and less of a tendency to binge eat.
• Methylsynephrine which is a beta-3 receptor activator that may increase thermogenic activity.
• R-Beta-Methylphenylethylamine (2) which is a stimulant ingredient commonly found in stronger weight loss supplements. The FDA has issued a warning against it because of its close relationship with amphetamines. (CITE http://www.fda.gov/Food/DietarySupplements/ProductsIngredients/ucm443790.htm)
• Theobroma Cocoa Extract which is a mild stimulant that may improve your body’s sensitivity to insulin. It’s known as a mood enhancer.
• Citrus Aurantium Extract (standardized to 25mg of Synephrine) which is a stimulant ingredient that became all the rage when Ephedrine got banned. It’s a powerful stimulant that has recently come under scrutiny for potential side effects, especially when combined with caffeine.
• Caffeine which is of course another stimulant, which shouldn’t be mixed with Citrus Aurantium.
• 1,3 Dimethylamine (aka DMAA) (3)  which is a stimulant similar to ephedrine. It’s banned in several countries, and its status in a state of confusion. While it has been banned, it’s still available in many supplements. I’ve read it has something to do with the inability of the FDA to enforce the ban.
• Yohimbe Extract which is yet another stimulant that the FDA warns against using. It causes a rapid heartbeat, sweating, and dizziness for some users. For some it can be even worse with a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
• Naringen and Dyhydroxybergamottin which both come from grapefruit and may help burn fat.

 

How To Use Stimerex-ES

 

The recommended dose is 1 Stimerex-ES capsule taken 3 times a day, with meals. They say you should start out with just one at first to see how it makes you feel, and you’re cautioned not to take more than 4 in a 24 hour period.

 

Stimerex-ES Before and After Reviews

 

As you can tell from the ingredient list as well as the name, Stimerex-ES goes heavy on the stimulants. The following review comes from a satisfied customer. She likes the effectiveness, but admit that the side effects are pretty serious:

 

“I am a 5’6 150lb female. I take this product for energy and endurance for my workouts and my day in general. This will curb your hunger. It is not for the faint heart as I feel jittery and slightly nauseous when taking it for the first couple days. Note I only take ONE per day. It’s all I need. I don’t know how someone can take 3 in one day and sleep at night..I also use for weight maintenance. If I gain a few lbs, I find taking this product helps me lose easier. I have been taking this product on and off for years. Be careful when taking this product. It is very strong, and I have some withdrawal symptoms when I stop taking suddenly. (Crabby, headaches). I’d rather take one of these than drink tons of coffee.”

 

So only one pill per day makes her jittery, nauseous, and unable to sleep. And when she stops using it, she gets withdrawal symptoms. And this from someone who likes the stuff. The majority of Stimerex-ES reviews are similar. They like the energy, but recognize that it comes with side effects:

 

“Stimerex is an Effective product. I lost around 5-10 pounds using it before going on vacation. I’m a normal weight. No bitter but I started slowly as 1 or 2 caps a day and used it just before my morning work out and my late afternoon walk. I don’t know if I will use it again as I realize that product make me kind of cranky!”

 

Stimerex-ES Pros

 

• It provides tons of energy.
• It suppresses appetite.

 

Stimerex-ES Cons

 

• It’s loaded with a hodge podge of stimulants, some banned and some warned against, and it has the side effects to show for it.
• The recommended dose is 3 pills per day, but most of the reviews I’ve read talk about only taking 1 or 2 pills tops because of the side effects and/or the inability to sleep that it may cause.

You can purchase Stimerex-ES online through its official website or a few other online retailers. A single bottle of 90 capsules costs $39.95 at the official website, but $34.95 at some other retailers. It’s not currently available through Amazon or Bodybuilding.com.

 

Our Stimerex-ES Conclusion

 

Stimerex-ES is hardcore to the point where it may even be dangerous. It mixes several stimulants, some of which are specifically recommended not to be used together, and one is actually technically banned by the FDA. Clearly, enough people have reported unwanted side effects to keep me from recommending this product.
