I remember when I worked in GNC almost 20 years ago, Twinlab Tribulus fuel sold pretty well because it was one of the few products out there. And since GNC had a stranglehold on the supplement market (before the internet went mainstream), buyers had few choices.
If you ask 5 different guys at the gym if they think Tribulus Terrestris is useful and why, you’ll probably get 5 different answers. In my experience, it’s one of the most controversial supplement ingredients there is. The fact is there are people who swear by it and there are people who think it’s the most useless crap available. Tribulus Fuel is for the ones who swear by it.
Tribulus Fuel is made by Twinlab, the same company that makes Metabolife diet pills for about the last 20 years. Testosterone supplements have changed, workout methods have changed… Twinlab has not. With only one ingredient, it’s about the most simple supplement you’ll find. But given what that ingredient is, the decision to use it may not be so simple after all.
Tribulus Fuel Ingredients
The only thing in Tribulus Fuel is 625mg of Tribulus Fruit Extract standardized for 40% Saponins. That’s 250 mg of Saponins. Cool. But what does that mean? Saponins are the active compounds in Tribulus Terrestris, and 250mg is at the top of the recommended dose of Saponins or best results.
Benefits of Tribulus Fuel
Tribulus has been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. You actually can’t eat the plant itself (it’s poisonous), but its extract has been used to treat angina, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, constipation, and cardiovascular, liver, and kidney disease.
These days in the West, it’s more commonly used to increase libido, treat erectile dysfunction, and increase strength and endurance in athletics. In the 1970s, a Bulgarian study appeared to show that there was a connection between Tribulus Terrestris and the body’s natural production of testosterone.
