Does Troxyphen Work?

Troxyphen is a weight loss supplement made by truDERMA, based on the idea that it could be low testosterone that’s causing your extra weight. It’s not that far-fetched. Men do tend to put on an extra layer of fat as they get older and their natural testosterone levels start to drop. Here at HighIntensitySupplements.com, we try to classify supplements based on the ingredients and Troxyphen sort of threw us for a loop. It straddles the testosterone booster category based on the ingredients, but makes the claims of a fat burner. Its an approach that rubs us the wrong way. But according to TruDERMA, focusing on both boosting those levels and on burning fat, Troxyphen will:
- Build lean muscle.
- Increase energy.
- Burn body fat.
How Troxyphen Works
When you were a teenager and in your early 20s, your body was flooded with testosterone. It was one of the reasons you could probably eat almost anything you wanted and still never gain weight. It was why going to the gym was so easy, and building muscle was effortless. But after that, levels start to decline. It’s not noticeable at first, but before long (about mid-30s), it catches up with you and you start feeling the changes.
Fat starts accumulating, especially around your waist.You have less energy and motivation. And even when you do make it to the gym, the results just don’t come as easily. Troxyphen recognizes that this drop in testosterone has contributed to your weight gain, and it works to reverse the trend, boost levels, and help you lose the weight you’ve gained.
Troxyphen Ingredients
The premise may be true, but the execution is only as good as the formula. For Troxyphen, that means:
- TestoSurge which is basically a proprietary name for Fenugreek. (1) Fenugreek is thought to boost free natural testosterone levels, but it may also inhibit DHT, so in the end it might just be a wash.
- Caffeine which provides an energy boost for workout motivation, as well as fat burning and a metabolism boost.
- Tribulus Terrestris which may increase natural testosterone production through the mechanism of increasing the release of luteinizing hormone, which then sends a signal to the testes to produce more testosterone.
- Citrus Aurantium (2) which is a stimulant, otherwise known as Synephrine, or Bitter Orange. It’s thought in some circles to be the replacement to ephedrine when it was banned. It’s a fairly popular fat burner used in lots of supplements.
- Yohimbe which is a powerful stimulant that works but can sometimes cause side effects like a racing heartbeat and dizziness. It can also cause serious side effects in some people such as a severe drop in blood pressure.
- L-Arginine Pyroglutamate which is just the particular form of l-arginine chosen for this formula. It increases natural production of nitric oxide. NO will widen and open up your blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow through to your muscles. This will provide energy for your workouts, hardness, for your penis, and better post workout recovery for your muscles.
- Black Pepper Extract which acts as a metabolism booster and fat burner.
- Muira Puama which is an herbal aphrodisiac commonly found in testosterone boosters.
- Saw Palmetto Berry Extract (3) which is used in many supplement formulas to help support the health of your prostate.
How To Use Troxyphen
Instructions are to take 1 Troxyphen capsule in the morning and another one in the afternoon, each with a full glass of water. They caution you not to take more than 2 capsules a day and not to take any within 4 hours of when you want to go to bed. The caffeine could have a tendency to keep you up.

Because Troxyphen is available through several different retailers, there’s a lot of customer feedback online. Most of it, across many platforms, is positive:

Troxyphen Pros
- The idea that boosting testosterone to help lose fat is solid. It’s true that falling levels leads to increased fat gain.
- The ingredients are all natural and all plainly listed on the bottle.
- It’s available through lots of different retailers.
- They TruDERMA website offers a 30 day refund on Troxyphen purchased from their website.
Troxyphen Cons
- There have been no clinical trials to prove that Troxyphen actually helps with weight loss.
- A few reviews show complaints about side effects due probably to the youhimbe, caffeine and synephrine combination.
Futhermore, the Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation Program (SRSP) administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus questioned claims that the Troxyphen is “safe and clinically researched” but could not provide evidence. Check out the investigative report here.
Where to Buy Troxyphen
You can find Troxyphen at the TruDERM website, Amazon.com, and in GNC stores. There’s a big discrepancy in price that you should make sure you’re aware of. The one month supply of 60 supplements capsules costs $54.99 at the truDERMA website, but at Amazon.com it’s only $27.95. It’s even as little as $29.97 at GNC, so don’t buy it at the website unless you don’t mind paying almost twice what you have to.
Our Troxyphen Conclusion
Guys past 35 looking to cut some weight might want to give Troxyphen a try. The formula is decent and the customer feedback is decent. Just make sure you don’t pay more than you have to, and start with half a dose to make sure you don’t get hit hard with side effects. In the end, fancy marketing seems to have worked well for Troxyphen, but we think there are better products to consider.
If you are looking for a fat burner to drop weight and get ripped like an MMA fighter, then Instant Knockout is better for you… male or female.
