Testofen Review 2

Most of what we talk about here are fully formed supplement products, designed to help you on your way to achieve a specific goal. But today we’re doing something a little different. We’re talking about an ingredient. This ingredient can be found in many of the products we discuss, and it can also be sold on its own. It’s called Testofen, and it may increase your testosterone levels, leading to increased muscle mass, strength and stamina, as well as decreased fat, greater energy, and a boosted libido.

What Is Testofen?

Testofen is an extract of Fenugreek that’s been standardized for 50% Fenuside. Sounds great, but what does it mean? Basically, Testofen is the result of Fenugreek being extracted and processed to the point where it is expected to be most beneficial.

It was researched and developed by the company called GenCor Pacific, a worldwide nutritional supplement manufacturer based on combining the principles of Western science with Eastern Ayurvedic philosophies of medicine.

How Does Testofen Work?

At the core, Testofen is Fenugreek. Fenugreek contains Saponins called Fenusides that are believed to provide benefits in a number of areas:

  • Fenugreek normalizes blood sugar.
  • It improves gastrointestinal health.
  • It supports normal, healthy production of testosterone.

Clinical Studies of Testofen

Testofen has been clinically tested on both animals and humans. The human trial performed and cited by Gencore involved 60 healthy men, ages 18-35, who participated in resistance training. Half of them were given Testofen, while the other half were given a placebo for 8 weeks. At the end of the study, there was no significant change in body weight, but there was a significant reduction in body fat in the Testofen group as compared with the placebo group.

The Testofen group was also tested and found to have achieved a 98% increase in free serum testosterone levels after 8 weeks of using Testofen. The study doesn’t mention the change in levels in the placebo group, so it’s difficult to know if the increase was due to diet or resistance training, or truly due to the Testofen. (1)

Testofen Review 3

Another study on healthy males, age 25-52, found that participants taking 600 daily mgs of Testofen
reported an increase in satisfaction with strength, muscles, energy, and libido, but it had no effect on sleep patterns or quality. (2)

Testofen Side Effects

Testofen is generally well tolerated, though mild side effects are not completely unheard of. The most common complaint is related to gastrointestinal issues, such as bloating.

Testofen Before and After Reviews

Because Testofen is sold as an ingredient in so many formulas as well as on its own, there’s lots of customer feedback to be found online. We found it to be pretty middle of the road. Testofen doesn’t seem to generate the excitement in the real world that it’s trying to generate in its marketing:

One reviewer says: “I tried several bottles and did notice a small improvement in stamina. The improvement didn’t show up until I was taking 4-5 capsules per day, and at that rate it was cost prohibitive.”

Another says: “This product produces as it says it will. It takes several months but the results are worth it. I’m 72 and still lift weights, a lot of weight, and have a satisfied family life with my wife of 52 years.”

We also found an instance of side effects in this customer:

“The product caused extreme stomach upset, gas, bloat, and diarrhea. Unable to continue product use.”

Where to Buy Testofen

Testofen is an ingredient, so you can purchase it on its own (like a vitamin supplement) or you can find it in several complete supplement formulations that include Testofen in their formulas. Swanson Vitamins is a popular choice. They sell 300 mg capsules, recommended at a dose of 2 per day. The 60-count bottle sells for about $15.

Testofen Review 4

Testofen Pros

  • It’s been researched and clinically studied.
  • There’s science backing up its claims.
  • You can get it for pretty cheap.

Testofen Cons

  • Some of the clinical tests haven’t really shown positive results, especially in the area of boosting testosterone.
  • There are a lot of reviews from customers saying Testofen is just not effective.
  • It can cause uncomfortable digestive side effects.

Our Testofen Conclusion

Testofen can probably help boost your libido to a degree, as well as give you a little added energy. But it’s not likely to be the answer to all your low testosterone prayers. The clinical research is conflicting to say the least, and the very successful studies are accused of being too small and flawed in their methodology. If the customer reviews were more glowing, I’d say try it anyway. But they’re not. As a results, I don’t see any compelling reason to run out and start using Testofen.
